Over the last couple of years, RICKY G'S trips to New Orleans during Jazzfest have had a profound impact upon his life.  Moved by the spirit of a city that lives and breaths live music, whose musicians approach their craft with such reverence, respect, and passion that yields an authenticity and magical energy unlike anywhere else. RICKY G'S experiences in New Orleans lead to his return to California with a burning desire to share a piece of that energy and authenticity with the music community here in Cali, and that was the catalyst for Ricky G Presents. A dream to honor the legends of Funk music with all star musicians playing the best damn Funky music in the world - New Orleans Funk Music!

A band that is at the heart of Bay Area funk, soul, R&B and hip hop, responsible for creating Oakland's most prolific weekly funk and soul jam session-Oakadelic Wednesdays at the Layover. As a band, they improvise and perform styles reminiscent of Parliament Funkadelic, Robert Glasper, Roy Hargrove, Gil Evans, Miles Davis, Fela Kuti, J Dilla, Freddie Hubbard, Pink Floyd, Erykah Badu, even the symphonic sounds of Gustave Mahler, and more. With almost entirely improvised shows, the group channels spontaneity of the heart, mind and soul, sure to make you feel the funk, all with a uniquely Oak-Town twist.
