The Republik

Say Aloha to a New World

Wednesday at 4:03PM on October 03, 2012

To celebrate its opening on August 19, Honolulu's new music venue, The Republik, threw a week's worth of festivities with much fanfare. The crowds that turned up were uniquely Hawaiian, seeking a place where they could spend evenings listening to both big name acts and local musicians. With The Republik, they found just that.
The Republik might be Hawaii's newest venue, but its roots run deep. The space is owned and operated by BAMP Project, one of Hawaii's premiere production and promotion companies. BAMP has years of experience organizing and throwing local events at various locations so when they created The Republik, they kept those lessons in mind, designing a modern space with all the latest technology.
BAMP's long-term connections in the music industry also mean The Republik's first events have included the kind of talent it takes most new venues years to acquire. Their first shows included top-billed acts like Bloc Party and Death Cab for Cutie.
The Republik will primarily focus on large-scale live events including shows by various rock and indie darlings. But on quieter nights, the space can be converted to house smaller club and dance events. There's also an art gallery and lounge perfect for a pre-show cocktail with friends. It's a venue that focuses on more than just band line-ups--The Republik embodies a bona fide music lifestyle.
