About Us
Staccato's mission statement is simple:"We want to channel the joy that we feel when we spin to the audience. We want to make people feel awesome." Two East coasters transplanted to Los Angeles, DJs Gina Turner and LOUISAHHH!!! teamed up organically as a result of promoters attempting to stage girl-on-girl DJ battles. Not one to follow rules, Staccato was burn out of the girls' desire to work together, rather than against each other. The team draws inspiration from the members' diverse musical backgrounds, with an eye towards the future. The duo sonically emphasizes the excitement generated by the music of their peers and contemporaries while keeping its roots firmly planted in tradition. Gina Turner and LOUISAHHH!!! hail masters such as Armand Van Helden, Matthew Dear, Claude Von Stroke, Josh Wink, Axwell, Cajmere and Roland Clark in an attempt to 'educated and elevate' the crowd. What separates Staccato from the rest of the pack is not only the ferocity of the members' passion for dance music, but striving to achieve or define a sort of 'Future Classicism', to which the group's name pays a sort of tongue-in-cheek homage. The word 'Staccato' is defined as "A direction in music meaning that the notes should be performed in an abrupt, sharp, clear-cut manner, such as gunfire". The duo seeks to make a similarly startling impact while resounding far longer than its name would suggest. Currently, Staccato is working on the production of original tracks and focusing on their underground party movement; MAJOR.
