Taste Of Sound x NBDY
With special guests Tamera King, Rosetta, Rocard, and Leah Jenae
R&B singer-songwriter NBDY (pronounced as spelled) may be a self-described “lone wolf,” but he’s leading the pack for those in his generation choosing to pave their own way.
Performing under the moniker NBDY, the 24-year-old musician shares his truth while leading the charge for others to do the same. In doing so, he presents a uniquely multifaceted R&B style using sensory elements in both his lyrical choosings and melodies, weaving together his sonic influences and his personal life experience.
“The NBDY project is me saying fuck everything else,” he says. “This is me doing what I want to do for a change.”
Part of that for NBDY is pursuing a career in R&B specifically. “R&B is the underdog genre of this generation,” he says while citing H.E.R. and Daniel Caesar as two current R&B artists he admires. “They’re not like everybody, and they don’t have to be like everybody.”
NBDY then released four singles including stand out tracks “Warning” and “Used To,” and inked a label deal with his former label Sony Arista where he released his debut EP in 2019.
Tinged in classic R&B sensibilities while incorporating a darker, more textured modern take, NBDY offers a new sound distinctly his own.
“It’s fresh, it feels new. It’s real shit with a bit of a commercial twist on it,” he says about the project. “It’s a figurative story, like a lone wolf finding his way out of the woods. I’m not telling people the direct, hardcore truth, but instead painting my own world around it.”
Here in 2021, NBDY is ready to reintroduce himself to the world. He started off with rereleasing his “Admissions” EP acoustically and following up with a new single “Situationship” off his EP "Tunnel Vision" released this past spring. And closing out 2021 with the live version of the Tunnel Vision tour.
