Event Details

The Small PA Mixing workshop is designed to familiarize students with running a small powered speaker system. Small PAs are generally used for band practices, acoustic sets, DJ sets, poetry readings, protests, or even house shows and shows in Vera’s gallery space!). Topics will include: speaker set up and placement, practicing cable management and signal flow, using EQ to ‘ring out’ a room, and mixing for small room shows. By completing this class you are eligible to rent PA systems from The Vera Project and start the process to become an Assistant Live Sound Engineer.

Pre-requisites: Live Sound 101

This class is a prerequisite for the Front of House Mixing class at Vera Project shows and access to VERA’s PA rental system. Each Live Sound class unlocks new audio engineering volunteer shifts at Vera and eventually paid opportunities in and outside of the venue. Become a volunteer at Vera to access other audio-related educational programs such as tours, field trips, and internships.
