After living in NYC and out west, Miami native, Rachel Angel took her hometown by storm with her crisp and poetic brand of songwriting; rare and refreshing in the barren heat of South Florida. Straddling the elusive line between folk and country, Angel’s songs take you through the muck of pain & disillusionment, the winding path of the hero’s journey, and ultimately to a place of self enlightenment. Her newest collection, Highway Songs, was released on Miami label, Public Works records in August of 2020 and takes the listener on a classic American road trip, with pit stops in Mexico and outer space. The songs detail the grueling touring schedule of a musician coming to grips with an auto immune deficiency. When Angel sings “I want to be a renegade,” she is speaking for anyone who has made the hard right choice, in favor of one that’s easier. Angel just returned from Philadelphia where she recorded her debut studio album at Miner Street Recordings. Following some show dates in New York City, Rachel will be gearing up to leave for a musical pilgrimage to Spain.
