Vocalist, songwriter, and all around entertainerMaya Shavonne also known as “Songbryd” has “the gift.” She has a voice thatsends chills down your spine. Mayasang her first solo at the age of 2 in front of a congregation of more than 200people. Even at that young age,she was ready for the stage. In thoseearly days, Maya often played records on her mothers’ record player fromWhitney Houston to the queen of soul Aretha Franklin. Maya’s child hood was an eventful one. She always loved making up her ownsongs, while her older brother and mother often listened in. Throughout grade school, Maya was activelyinvolved with Honors Chorus, State Choirs, and many gospel groups.
Todayher passion for music and performing is as intense as it was before. As well as being a dynamic vocalist,Maya is also a producer, songwriter, and vocal arranger. Her music is a collective sound of Jazz,Soul, R&B, and Hip-Hop, and promises to stimulate the soul. Her writing is simplistic in nature butgives profound views on topics of love, politics, nostalgia, and religion. Her vocal arrangements are harmonic andsplendid, and are a treat for the listener.
