Founded in 2017 by guitarist Benjamin Hewitt and drummer Makani Rietveld with singer/bassist Samantha Spector, Late Ship is a progressive hard rock power trio. Their aggressive guitar, intricate drum patterns and emotionally charged songs are raw and cacophonous, and several songs from their debut record “Whether You Like it or Not” have seen thousands of streams and plays.
MJ LaVine’s music is an original combination of pop/punk rock infused with a touch of European punk rock attitude. Audiences will enjoy MJ’s relatable, snarky lyrics set to upbeat rock tempos. MJ’s music has color and heart.
Los Angeles band Turning Violet sits in that satisfying spot between punk and power-pop, with the added bonus of some New Wave flair. Singer & main songwriter Simone Siren’s vocals—compared by listeners to Kate Bush and Debbie Harry—helm their well-structured songs that draw on the erratic energy of the early ‘80s and some ‘90s buzz/crunch. The six tracks on the Broken Wheel EP were arranged by powerhouse drummer Wally Rashidi (Jr. Juggernaut, Dead Man’s Life, Revolution Mother), nuanced guitarist & artist Matt Whitlock and bass dynamo Iriel Li—later replaced by the multi-talented bassist & artist Sol Luongo (The Vigils, Go Betty Go) for new singles "The Forgotten" and "Ice Chest."
