Dim Mak Records was started in a dormroom at the University of California Santa Barbara by Steve Aoki in 1996.

In the last 20 years Dim mak records hashelped shape the careers of artists from Bloc Party to The Kills in thealternative world and from Deorro to The Chainsmokers in the Dance musicmovement.

Steve Aoki is a DJ and also the founderof Dim Mak Records, which has counted leading indie rock bands such as Gossip,Bloc Party, the Kills, and the Rakes among its stable of signees. The son ofwealthy restauranteur Rocky Aoki, he is of Japanese heritage and calls LosAngeles home. In 2007 he released his first official mix CD, Pillowface &His Airplane Chronicles, on Thrive Records. Featuring tracks by Justice,Klaxons, Mystery Jets, Peaches, Datarock, Yelle, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, and Scanners -- most of them remixed -- Pillowface & His AirplaneChronicles is fairly representative of Aoki's renown as a taste-making danceparty DJ rather than a skillful turntablist.

In 2009 his remix work brought rapperDrake's single "Forever" to the dancefloor, while 2010 saw himrelease the "I'm in the House" single with Zuper Blahq, alter ego ofBlack Eyed Peas singer Further high-profile artists' material wasalso reworked by Aoki during this period, with tracks by Michael Jackson, theKillers, and Lenny Kravitz all benefiting; while collaborations withlike-minded producers such as Armand van Helden and the Bloody Beetrootscontinued to appear on Dim Mak. By the end of 2011, the early fruits ofsessions for his debut album, Wonderland, had materialized as the singles"Earthquakey People" -- a collaboration with Weezer singer RiversCuomo -- and "Tornado," on which Aoki combined forces with themulti-award-winning Tiësto.

In 2012 he released his first EP, It'sthe End of the World as We Know It. More collaborations followed in 2013, withAoki reworking a Linkin Park track for the group's remix album Recharged. Theresulting "A Light That Never Comes" was released as a single alongsideseveral more remixes. In 2014 he announced details of a forthcoming albumtitled Neon Future. Marketed as a two-part record, the first installmentarrived later in the year with Fall Out Boy,, and Waka Flocka Flameamong its guests. Neon Future, Vol. 2 followed in 2015 with guest appearancesfrom Rivers Cuomo, Snoop Dogg, and J.J. Abrams.

He released a fulllength documentary called “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” to critical acclaim onNetflix in August of 2016.

Refunds will be given until January 6, 2017.
