LUDICRA

Facebook   bandcamp   Spotify

Ludicra surfaced from the minds of John Cobbett and Aesop Dekker in the fall of 1998. Based in San Francisco, the band was envisioned as raw and primal black metal that could eschew the more theatrical tropes of the genre. Shortly after debuting as a four piece which included guitarist / vocalist Christy Cather, Ludicra expanded its ranks to five with the addition of vocalist Laurie Sue Shanaman and bassist Ross Sewage.

The following decade would see the rise of a singular band, delivering urban pathos to black metal and writing a soundtrack for the desperate lives of the city. Ludicra would go on to release four full length albums and one EP that were met roundly with critical praise. Their live performances were fervent and passionate, etching Ludicra deeply into the psyche of their audiences.

Following successful U.S. and European tours for their final album, the band imploded rather unspectacularly without a finale in 2011. Maybe Ludicra had accomplished what it needed to accomplish, but the nagging sensation to give the music a proper farewell lingered. When the opportunity to do so presented itself 11 years later, the members of Ludicra came together once more at the Northwest Terror Fest of 2022. Their camaraderie was reborn and the elation of all in attendance was palpable. It was a fitting final bow to the people of Seattle.

Following this emotional return to the stage, it was decided by the members that Ludicra still has some goodbyes yet to give. This is especially the case for the band's original haunt. For their friends, their families, and for the listeners who supported them, Ludicra will be performing at this very special event in San Francisco to bid their former home a final adieu.

DEATHGRAVE

Instagram   bandcamp

Spawned in 2013, DEATHGRAVE initially united as four friends with a simple need to play bleeding & belligerent  Deathgrind grabbing elements from Siege, Rudimentary Peni, Napalm Death, Impetigo, and Zeni Geva while sounding like none of the above. Comprised of longtime scene veterans, DEATHGRAVE is Greg Wilkinson (Autopsy, Brainoil, ex-Laudanum, ex-Graves At Sea) alongside bassist Fern Alberts (Amber Asylum, ex-Bird, ex-Ringwurm), vocalist Andre Cornejo (ex-Cyanic, ex-Bird, ex-Casket Blaster), and joined forces w/ Clint Baechle (Owl, ex-Isotope, and Hazzards Cure) on drums in ‘18.

FUNERAL CHANT

bandcamp | Instagram | Facebook

Funeral Chant was forged in 2014 with the aim of writing chaotic and horrifying death metal by combining the traditions of early black, death, and thrash metal with the wild and innovative spirit that dominated the early days of traditional heavy metal. Influenced by the likes of Necrovore, Darkthrone, and Morbid Angel, the project is fueled by a preoccupation with the many forces and concepts of death, darkness, and evil. The band independently released a self-titled EP on cassette and digital formats in February 2017, which was released on LP and CD by Duplicate Records and Caverna Abismal later that year. After a period of appearances in the Bay Area, US West Coast, and Mexico, the band began recording material in 2020 for what would become their debut full length, Dawn of Annihilation, released in November 2021 by Carbonized Records. Funeral Chant continues to haunt the Bay Area and beyond.
