Calgary Folk Music Festival presents Anchor's Up at Festival Hall on November 21!
Door time: 7:00 PM
Show time: 8:00 PM
The Anchor’s Up tour brings three of Atlantic Canada’s most celebrated folk acts
together for individual sets of captivating songs and stories.
Newfoundland’s JUNO-nominated contemporary folk duo Fortunate Ones creates
lush harmonies rising out of warm acoustic sounds. Their 2022 album, That Was
You and Me, finds Fortunate Ones reflecting on life, loss, and hard times; ultimately
choosing love.
Old Man Luedecke is the recording and performing name of two-time JUNO award-
winning songwriter Chris Luedecke. Known for high energy banjo driven stompers,
touching guitar ballads and dry humorous stories, Luedecke has successfully
exported his brand of high and lowbrow roots for fifteen years.
Thoughtful and playful songs are soaked with the poetic charm and sunny sadness
of JUNO Award-nominated trio The Once’s collective disposition. Well known for
haunting interpretations of traditional music, The Once has bloomed a sound that
represents their up-springing inner artistry while their roots dig ever deeper into
their idolized island of Newfoundland.
